Choose a Sound Profile
- Open Settings → Audio → Default Audio → Sound Profile.
- Choose a built-in profile and play a familiar track.
- Choose Reference to compare with neutral settings.
- Reference provides neutral settings.
- Noisy Environment helps make voices and quiet passages easier to hear.
- Low Volume adds bass and treble for quiet listening.
- Small Speaker reduces deep bass to suit small speakers.
- Bass Impact emphasizes bass.
Set sound by output type
- Open Settings → Audio and choose a category under Outputs, such as Bluetooth or CarPlay.
- Turn on Customize.
- Open Sound Profile and choose the profile you want for that category.
Apply the recommended profiles
- In Settings → Audio, open More and choose Apply Recommended Profiles…
- Review the suggested changes: Small Speaker for Built-In, and Noisy Environment for CarPlay.
- Confirm to apply those two profiles.
Save a Sound Profile
- Open the Sound Profile list and use New Profile, or choose Duplicate from a profile’s menu.
- Give it a name and adjust its sound controls.
- Select that saved profile when configuring another output category.
Normalize playback volume
- Open Settings → Playback → Normalize Volume.
- Choose Auto to use album measurements when ready and track measurements otherwise. Track adjusts each track individually; Album preserves volume differences within an album. Choose Off to disable normalization.
Adjust tone with EQ
Open Settings → Audio → Default Audio, or choose an output and turn on Customize. Under Equalizer, choose a preset or adjust the bands in the editor.
Automatic preamp leaves room for EQ boosts. In Manual, lower the preamp if boosts cause distortion. Bypass EQ to compare the result.
Other audio controls
- Dynamic EQ adds bass and treble at low device volume. It uses the volume setting, not ambient noise.
- Compression reduces the difference between loud and quiet passages. Standard processes all frequencies together; Multiband processes frequency ranges separately.
- Output Trim adjusts volume after processing. Auto Level Match helps you compare processed and unprocessed sound at similar levels.
- The limiter controls peaks. Strong limiting can change how a recording sounds.
- Polarity flips the audio signal. Leave it at the default unless your setup requires a change.
Check the signal path
Open Settings → Playback → Signal Path to see the file format, processing, and actual output.
Output Format in Audio settings controls sample-rate matching, conversion, and stereo downmix. Keep the defaults unless you need a change, and check what your audio equipment supports first.
Reset audio settings
Turn Customize off to use Default Audio for an output. Choose Copy Default Settings to replace that output’s custom settings with the defaults.
Reset Audio Settings restores the default configuration and output assignments. It keeps saved profiles and presets. Check the confirmation before resetting.
