Speakers and players

Choose an audio output#

1. Open the output/player picker from Now Playing.
2. Open Audio Output and choose a destination in Apple’s picker.

Use AirPlay speakers#

1. Open Audio Output on iPhone or iPad.
2. Choose the AirPlay destination or supported speaker group in Apple’s picker.
3. Use the system controls for available speakers and volume.

Control a remote player#

1. Open the player picker and look under Remote Players.
2. Choose an available player and wait for the connection or transfer to be confirmed.
3. Use the controls that player supports. Queue, position, and volume controls may differ from playback on this device.

Return to this device#

Choose Play on This iPhone or Play on This iPad in the player picker when offered. Wait for the transfer to finish, then check Audio Output.

If the transfer fails, check the error before retrying. Changing speakers does not necessarily change the selected player.

Which sound settings apply?#

Playback on iPhone or iPad uses the Audio settings for the current output type. Remote players use their own sound settings.
